Crafting Resumes in 2025- a few things to keep in mind

1) Focus more on your skills and competencies and achievements, and less on your responsibilities.

2) Have a clean and simple resume format. Avoid using fancy fonts, graphics and too many colours.

3) Focus on building a personal brand. I've written about its importance in this article.

4) Make sure your resume is ATS compliant.

5) Sometimes, a hybrid resume works better than a chronological or reverse chronological resume.

I'm also happy to share that I recently put together a booklet, Crafting a Resume in 2025, a coaching module for those working on their resumes in 2025.

In Crafting a Resume in 2025, the booklet I have written for job seekers, I talk about the following:

  • A few tips for job seekers who are crafting their resumes
  • 5 seemingly innocuous details on your resume that may prove a deterrent to you being hired.
  • Addressing pandemic gaps (or for that matter, any gaps) on your resume.
  • How to Communicate Your Brand—and Why It Matters.
  • 3 things to do when you do not have your resume with you, but still need to make an impression.
  • Crafting a Standout Resume: Ask Yourself These Three Questions
  • Academic Versus Non-Academic Resumes (including tips and guidelines on how to craft your resume).
  • The Hybrid Resume: A Strategic Approach (Who should use it? How do you think you should craft it? A step-by-step guide to structuring a hybrid resume.
  • Key takeaways.

This is a special offer, and this booklet will only be available to buy between March and April, to celebrate 11 years of Aglet Ink. All proceeds from it will go into developing resources for first-generation learners.

Thank you to do those of you who have already purchased this booklet. As always, I am very grateful for your support.
