Crafting Artisanal Chocolate Amidst the Shadows of Retail Giants: Sorga Chocolate's Journey of Resilience and Hope

Crafting Artisanal Chocolate Amidst the Shadows of Retail Giants: Sorga Chocolate's Journey of Resilience and Hope

As proud craftsmen of some of Indonesia's finest chocolates, we have always cherished our journey, from sourcing cocoa beans ethically to crafting these tiny bites of joy. But today, we want to shed light on a part of our journey that is often concealed yet significantly impacts small businesses like ours.

We recently faced a setback, where a major retail giant in our country did not honor their payment for our products. Unfortunately, this incident is not unique to us, but a testament to a broader global issue: the often hidden struggle of small businesses against the might of larger corporations.

Globally, it's no secret that big corporations exploit their power to enforce their terms on smaller businesses, all while publicly promoting their support for small businesses. They act as gatekeepers to vast customer bases, and small businesses are frequently left at the mercy of these giants, complying with their terms, and, occasionally, being left unpaid for their products or services.

Ironically, these large corporations often use their "support for small businesses" as a marketing strategy, a sentiment that resonates well with many consumers. However, the reality behind the scenes can be quite different, as our experience shows.

In Indonesia, the situation is complex. Small businesses like ours are navigating an evolving retail market, often grappling with challenges that large corporations do not face. It is crucial to engage in this conversation to work towards a more equitable market for all players.

So, what's the solution to this predicament? We believe that the answer lies in solidarity and collective action. As small businesses, we can unite and leverage our collective power to negotiate better terms with these retail giants. We can also seek the support of our loyal customers and the wider public by raising awareness about these issues, prompting them to make more informed purchasing decisions.

Moreover, advocacy for stronger antitrust enforcement and fair trade practices can play a significant role in leveling the playing field for small businesses. Legal and regulatory frameworks should be designed to protect the interests of small businesses, ensuring that they can compete fairly and sustainably.

At Sorga Chocolate, we are undeterred by these challenges. We are more than a business, we are a community, united by our love for chocolate and our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. We will continue to create our chocolates with the same passion and integrity, trusting in our values to guide us through any hurdles we encounter.

By sharing our experience, we aim to shed light on the struggles of small businesses and to inspire action towards a fairer, more inclusive market. We believe in a future where businesses of all sizes can thrive without fear of exploitation. Let's stand together for the small businesses that are at the heart of our economy, our community, and our nation.

With resilience and hope,

A typical problem from around the world where there are lax rules governing trade. It impacts the small operators more than the established ones. Hope it gets sorted out quickly. As a company, you should target the free stading and smaller operators who need and repect your services than these multinational giants who take advantage of you. Best wishes for your continued success.
