Cracking Your Personal Success Code
What’s getting in the way of your quest for success? What’s holding you back from fulfilling your potential? If you had to make a list of all the things that are conspiring to hinder your progress right now, what would you name as the five biggest issues?
We’re very good at inventing reasons for our lack of progress. There’s never a shortage of excuses for failing to live up to our expectations. People claim that they’re too young, too old, too inexperienced, under-educated, under-qualified – or just not lucky enough to get the breaks.
But are any of these reasons really valid? Or are they nothing more than the same old tired excuses that people have always used to justify their limiting circumstances?
Whatever reasons you might’ve thought of when you were thinking about the nature of the obstacles in your life, there’s one clear and shining example of hope that everyone can adopt as the best way to break through the limitations.
It’s called action and there really isn’t anything else in the great repertoire of skills for success that can compete with it.
Do you want to know who you are? Don’t ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you ?
-?Thomas Jefferson
Whatever your circumstances, sitting back passively waiting for things to change is a formula for failure. The answer is to adopt an active stance and get moving – literally and figuratively. One of the great mantras that encourages an active and successful approach to life’s challenges is something that’s worth repeating every hour of the day:
The Universe Rewards Action
It’s a simple but potent reminder to look for ways to break the deadlock. It encourages greater awareness as you seek out new opportunities and fresh approaches to resolve any problems that might be interfering with your progress. And it’s a recognised step on the pathway to personal empowerment.
But the greater success principle that really deserves to be considered is the question of your personal identity. This is an area that’s often over-looked but it can provide extraordinary insights into why you might be struggling.
The starting point might seem to be perfectly innocent but it can help you to unravel behavioural obstacles that might have escaped your attention. Is it possible that you’ve adopted traits from your early childhood background that don’t support a happy and successful life? This could be the perfect moment to take a closer look at the issue.
Be content to act, and leave the talking to others.
― Baltasar Gracian
If you grew up - like so many people - in a family that had problems with money, it’s much more likely that you will also feel uncomfortable with the concept of financial success. If your family worried about money, you might’ve picked up the deeply-held belief that money is somehow something to be afraid of. Is it any wonder that you sometimes feel uncomfortable around the trappings of success if your parents were always stressed about the family finances? These attitudes and beliefs transferred to children and become the foundation for future emotional responses. We are less likely to pursue something or make it a welcome part of our lives if, deep down, we feel afraid or anxious about it. It isn’t a conscious decision. And that’s why it’s such an important issue. It’s an unconscious reaction that can easily sabotage our best efforts to create success for ourselves.
Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.

If you’ve found success to be an elusive commodity in your life, perhaps now is the moment for you to consider whether some of your inherited personality traits have been secretly conspiring to defeat your ambitions. This is a potentially life-changing insight because the ideas and values we absorbed unconsciously as children can be changed. We really are fully capable of making major adjustments to the fabric of our conditioning and develop personality traits that are truly advantageous for our success and wellbeing.
One of the simplest approaches to the challenge of making the necessary precisely-targeted adjustments is to create a series of personal mantras that you can easily repeat to yourself throughout the day.
The idea of constructing positive messages to direct towards yourself is ’t new. It’s a method that’s been successfully employed for countless centuries. By developing a series of short, positively-inflected statements, you create the possibility of shifting your regular pattern of thinking and begin to assume the uplifting tone of your new mantras. Repetition is the key and the more you incorporate this simple method into your daily routine, the more effective it will be.
Personality is only ripe when a man has made the truth his own.
-??????Soren Kierkegaard
The best place to begin the process of transformation is by considering any beliefs, feelings or attitudes that strike you as negative, especially around the subjects of happiness, success and personal achievement. Take a few minutes to build a collection of simple statements that express your willingness to feel completely comfortable with success, happiness or creating a great future for yourself. Notice the way you feel when you repeat these personal affirmations. Notice any changes that begin to show up in your life as you integrate these new feelings and beliefs into your life. You might be very surprised at how influential the exercise can be.
Living in alignment with your true self enables you to cultivate transparency and unshakable authenticity.
