CPU PERFORMANCE EQUATIONS

CPU PERFORMANCE EQUATIONS

Let us use it to understand the equations...

CPU Execution Time - Time spent while executing the program instructions

Interpretation from problem

Which processor will have highest performance ..

The processor which have less execution time will have higher performance

What is common in all 3 processors..

They are executing same program

so one thing is sure all 3 are executing same number of instructions

That is why we get

Execution time* 0.7 = (Num of instructions* CPI* 1.2) / (New Clock rate)

New Clock rate = Clock rate * 1.2 / 0.7 = 1.71* Clock rate

New Clock rate for processor: P1: 3GHz * 1.71 = 5.13 GHz
