If you are a student pharmacist working with an independent prescriber (IP) on a placement, then it might help you to have an overview of clinical history taking. Sometimes this is called medical clerking. It's different to medicines reconciliation.
Alternatively you may be an IP who hosts student pharmacists for summer jobs or placements, who wants to recommend some background information on clinical history taking.
CPPE has a programme that student pharmacists can access now without charge that might help, called Clinical History taking: what a good consultation looks like. This programme gives an overview of how to take a clinical history of the presenting condition, past medical history, family history, social history, drug history including allergies and a review of systems (or red flagging). To programme also includes a prompt sheet that is a couple of sides of A4. The programme puts theory into practice with video consultations.
Student pharmacists can access this without charge when the register with the CPPE website. This is quick and straightforward to do. There is no charge to register. To find out more visit the students page on the CPPE website and go to information under the student pharmacists tab.
