Coyotes Were Waiting for Him...

An elderly man with dementia went wandering in the New Mexico desert, missing for 5 days.

The Search & Rescue team went out at night with their newly acquired thermal drone. After hours of searching, a low battery alert sounded, and the drone began its auto-return home. It flew over a body of water not covered during the search, and the pilot spotted a thermal signature in the water. However, there was not enough battery to go and inspect. Upon landing, they replaced the battery and flew back out to the location to get a closer look, discovering it was the man who was lost, standing in water up to his chest. Post-recovery, the man needed hospitalization.?

When asked, "Why were you standing in the water?" his reply was sobering: "The coyotes were trying to kill me."?

This drone saved that man's life, as he was dehydrated and close to death!?
