CoviDilemma – tolerate violation of ethics by an employee, fearing social sham OR stand for what’s right?

While the world grapples to find its feet fighting the pandemic, a section of people will flourish to thank COVID-19. I can’t authoritatively talk about a section, but a specific case that made me write this bit and terming it “CoviDilemma”.
I exposed a jarring violation of ethics (with proof), where a recruiter at my client’s offered to “HELP” me close positions for an arrangement.
All I asked of the client was to investigate the matter. Guess what – there is a long radio silence, which is loud. What’s worse? Suddenly, they are reviewing our contract renewal, none of our profiles are being considered and as murky as it sounds... our payments are stalled.
The 'character' had the audacity to tell me that he isn’t worried of any allegation leveled against him as he has the “powers that be” in his pockets. (I just realized – he truly does!).
That said, there were some that promised to look into the matter and a fair resolution. I don’t really care about contract renewal as much as I do for what the organization stands for. This was just before the lockdown started.
Now, from what I understand – my client is facing CoviDilemma - tolerate violation of ethics, as its inhumane to fire someone during this situation, OR take an exemplary stance.
