The study aimed to develop and validate a health-related quality of life (HRQoL) questionnaire for individuals with current or prior COVID-19 across different countries. The research followed a four-phase questionnaire development process, focusing on pretesting and validation.
Participants from 11 countries, lead by Kristin Bjordal and her great team in Olso, involved countries including Austria, Germany, India, and others. The questionnaire, initially consisting of 80 items, was revised to include 61 items after pretesting. Most participants took less than 15 minutes to complete it, either on paper or digitally. The final questionnaire demonstrated strong validity and reliability, comprising 15 multi-item scales and six single items.
In simple terms, the Oslo COVID-19 QLQ-W61? is an international questionnaire designed to assess the health-related quality of life in COVID-19 patients. It provides a comprehensive understanding of how COVID-19 impacts patients' physical, emotional, and social well-being. This questionnaire is valid and suitable for use in both research and clinical practice.
