Some countries have already put in place plans to return back to normalcy and resume international air travel. Demand for passenger travel will pick up pace if all key stakeholders proactively play their part:
· Airline Companies – Alleviate the fear of air travel by both putting in place and prominently advertising robust plans and procedures for ensuring passenger and crew safety. With neither a definitive cure or vaccine in the horizon, building passenger confidence will be critical. Safety is paramount and should not be compromised at any cost. Attractive travel packages, and sales promotions will also help in boosting international travel. A “World’s Biggest Offer” providing incentives like free tickets, buy one block centre seat free and or special cabins are worth exploring.
· Governments – Provide short term tax incentives (GST, aviation fuel, etc.) and extended credit facility to help improve the immediate cash flow scenario of airline companies which are under severe stress.
· Civil Aviation & Airport Authorities – Provide reasonable discounts on airport charges, landing charges, parking charges, overflying charges and ground handling charges. These will also enable airlines to sustain, thrive and keep flying
Stay safe !! Fly safe.
