Building a strong community by driving strategic investment and job creation.
关于我们
Generating investment and job creation in our community. Our services are centered around our mission, by assisting new and growing companies or those looking to relocate to find resources they need to build their business. This includes not only site selection, but also redevelopment assistance, workforce research, access to financing and other incentives or resources to help them make the most of their investments in Battle Creek. For over 40 years, Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU) has helped people and businesses find ways to create economic opportunity in Southwest Michigan. BCU, a private, nonprofit corporation, serves as the business and economic development arm for the City of Battle Creek. BCU was established in 1972 under contract with the City of Battle Creek to market and manage the conversion of the abandoned, former military property, which is now known as Fort Custer Industrial Park. The grounds were transformed from rolling, wooded tracts of abandoned military property into the now modern, thriving industrial park. This transformation was the nation’s first and most successful base conversion project into Michigan’s largest, cutting-edge, state certified industrial park – 3,000 acre Fort Custer Industrial Park. BCU positioned Battle Creek among the first communities to make a marketing strategy of workforce development and customize training. Thanks to the foresight and diligence of local, state, and national leaders assets were put in place to encourage success. This included: 1976 – Customs Port of Battle Creek Designation 1978 – Foreign-Trade Zone 43 grant of authority 1980 – Public Act 450, positioning the Battle Creek Tax Increment Financing Authority as the first industrial TIFA in Michigan. Through stunning early wins in manufacturing, BCU never abandoned its strategy of determined outreach, a collaborative approach, and proactively developing an asset base for economic growth and social resilience.

?????? ?????????????????? ??????????????: ?????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????? ???????? ?????? ???????????????? ?????????????????????? ???? ???????????? ??????????. The plan identifies key growth sectors and prioritizes community development. BCU President & CEO Joe Sobieralski said, “For more than 50 years, BCU has had unrivaled success attracting companies and creating jobs in Battle Creek. This new strategic plan builds on our past success and expands our focus to have the greatest impact on Battle Creek. As the needs of our community change, so too must BCU change in response. Growing our economy today requires that we include more community development, which includes housing, placemaking, and community revitalization. We want to lead on this front and develop a reputation as a leader in Michigan, the Midwest, and the country.” View the full press release as well as a link to view the plan in its entirety here: https://lnkd.in/gu9YgJ_i #economicdevelopment #battlecreek #michigan #strategicplan

Class is in session, and collaborating with local schools is an excellent strategy for developing your current and future talent pipeline. There are numerous ways for companies to connect with students, teachers, and the community, including career exploration events, work-based learning opportunities, speaking engagements, and more. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase available careers right here in Battle Creek. The photo in this post was taken during Manufacturing Day held at Kellogg Community College's RMTC - and features a Duncan Aviation engine that students could explore at the event. Manufacturing Day is held in October every year and is only one of several ways that students connect with companies in various industries. #OurCityYourHomeBC #careerexploration #battlecreek #talentpipeline

BCU commissioned local Battle Creek artist, Jaziel Pugh, to add a little color to a space at the DoubleTree by Hilton Battle Creek. The mural commemorates the city's history and showcases the key industries that Battle Creek has influenced, both historically and as we look toward the future. We are grateful to Jaziel for turning this vision into reality and eagerly anticipate the community's enjoyment of the artwork in the hotel’s green space and beer garden. #battlecreek #vibrancy #downtown
