Many of us are pretty fed up with this whole COVID situation, whether because there are too many restrictions or too few restrictions. Vaccines, no vaccines, etc., etc., etc.
This pandemic has been going on for a long, long time already, we're approaching two years, and COVID still makes the headlines EVERY DAY!
It helps to find the positive things that COVID brought about. So we can have some helpful outlook at the past two years. So I just wanted to focus on one thing that I thought was a significant change, a big shift.
And that is the INTERNET usage.
I feel much more comfortable interacting virtually with other people and creating genuine relationships online. And I think that's something that society has taken many steps forward through this pandemic.
I was watching an Instagram Live by Berel Solomon on Motzi Shabbos. He hosted Rabbi Manis Friedman, a very popular YouTuber said to be the most popular Rabbi on YouTube.
Rabbi Friedman said a fascinating thing.
Well, let's just say he is a big fan of the internet, and he's a big fan of the fact that COVID moved things forward with the internet. He especially thinks that this is very important for our generation to help bring the world to its organic perfection.
To be honest, this has been marinating, so to speak, in the back of my mind for a while already. I always wondered how Mashiach would come. According to Rabbi Friedman, people will realize the evil in the world; it will become apparent, and people will beg for the truth. He said, you see that happening already. You see, falsity is being exposed everywhere. People are standing up for what they think is true. And they're demanding truth right now.
But here's the kicker, Rabbi Manis Friedman said that our job as Jews is to be there to teach people the Torah when everyone realizes the truth. In fact, his YouTube channel aims to start spreading the truth of the Torah and be there for people who want to know the truth.
So I just wanted to share this idea because I think it's something that we have to start thinking about. The world is heading towards virtual solutions for almost everything nowadays. The rate of technological advancement is incredible, and we need to be there when it is our time to shine!
I'm not saying we have to change overnight; it's okay to take our time; there's no rush. However, I definitely think that learning the skills of communicating online and interacting with people in a meaningful way through social media is something to think about. Also, it is essential to realize that the internet has matured, and it is not just a way to show off or get into trouble.
I think it's time for a new narrative regarding the internet. There's so much potential to create and connect on the internet. And it really is a fantastic thing; we have to try to find ways to use it positively.
So I strongly encourage you to think about this a little more and, of course, share your thoughts in the comments.
