COVID hasn't left the building yet!

Until a month ago, COVID was a statistic that was hurting the economy, keeping us at home and making us worry about our futures. Now no more!

A classmate passed away a month ago apparently diagnosed with a lung disease. A second classmate passed away two weeks ago after he came to support his mother who had just admitted his father at the hospital because of COVID. His father passed away two weeks before his own death. Two days ago a friend's wife passed away with almost limited symptoms. Before that, numerous friends lost their parents to COVID. Many without even being able to speak with their parents who passed away in the solitary confines of hospital ICUs.

It might appear I may be clouded by a philosophical state of mind but all these folks were absolutely wonderful and decent people. I mean, I would think people would struggle to find one word against them.

A few other friends are still dealing with the after effects of the infection - Depression, Weakness, Skin infections and like. COVID is no more a statistic, it is a scourge that is devouring us one by one and slowly.

Still some of us indulge in reckless behaviour as we think this is the time for bravery. The recurrence in many parts of India and its re-emergence in Europe warns us of the consequences of such reckless behaviour. Each individual has to make their own choices but please don't pass on your reckless behaviour to others, it is a simple request.

COVID is still here my friends, it hasn't left the building, stay safe.

My condolences for the losses... This truly is the challenge of our generation. And logic & common sense are unfortunately in short supply.
