Construction Recruitment Director? Recruiter of Construction Professionals?Construction Recruitment Specialist
A quick diary update after the Easter break (which was lovely as I never ever spend Easter at home).
Today’s observation is possibly my first antagonistic comment (but purely that I have read quite a few posts and articles on LinkedIn saying how great working from home is, and in my profession a few people really pushing it as choice going forward…
‘Start your own agency, work from home, set your own hours…’
Now I would never put someone off wanting to start their own recruitment business (I would be a colossal hypocrite if I did), however from day one, I never wanted to do anything other than have an office, put a suit on, build a team of people and work in a structured environment.
Again, I appreciate everyone makes their own choice, but personally home working isn’t for me. I moved to London to work in London. I miss it. 20 years in I miss the buzz, the people, even travelling round as you get to see one of the greatest cities on earth daily
There have been many benefits in the last few weeks, spending time with the children I could never have imagined, but to do this day in, day out from home would not be for me…
Home is where I go to when I’ve finished work, a place to unwind and relax, and as an employer of people I want to see then (not just on zoom), but together and face-to-face.
A recruitment business is about people and for me that has always meant ‘in person’ rather than via technology, and the recruitment we do fits that ethos.
They say a change is as good as a rest; well I’ve had my rest, and I can’t wait to return to the office with the team.
