COVID-19 Through the Eyes of an NCC Cadet

These Quotes really helped me get going through the ongoing tough times. For every citizen COVID-19, came with lifestyle changes. During uncertain times, a positive approach, gaining knowledge, skills, and helping society have proved the important pillars for me. I believe Knowledge and caution can brighten up any kind of darkness which the pandemic came with.

When Honorable Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi emphasized on training NCC Cadets to provide service during COVID-19, I was not quite sure of where to start. I was a bit scared and many questions came to my mind, the most prominent was “What if I get infected and Am, I putting my family members at risk too?” And then we heard about training and webinars especially for NCC Cadets, and I knew this was it! 

Within a day or two webinars and live training began. A Training course was created for NCC Cadets on Diksha Portal by iGOT, I want to thank the Government of India for coming up with such a diverse training course which includes everything from safe packaging of food materials to making masks and distributing these while taking all required precautions. After my training got completed, I was much more confident and positive to provide service.

 After every training module, short question answers were given as notes. We were given assignments and quizzes to judge our knowledge, based on which marks were assigned for each module. If we score good, we were allowed to study the next module. This training was very effective and many seniors showed up to teach the training modules. It was a great feeling to learn from such well-learned people. I made masks at home without a sewing machine. Yes, it was new for me to learn sewing from my mom. The next step for me was reaching out and distributing these masks among the workers of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. 

The task also included creating awareness on all online platforms, reaching out with new Government guidelines to the public, not letting any myths and false information spread. We took an initiative to help and applaud the Corona Warriors and motivated people to use their time effectively to reduce any kind of stress. With the help of other NCC Cadets from Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, Gandhinagar, We shoot the demo videos and share them with the public. At the end of the training, I was also acknowledged with the Certificate by the Government of India for completion of "COVID-19 Training For NCC Cadets"

Unprecedented situations need unprecedented solutions. As a part of the service, I also started online teaching via zoom. Virtual instruction is the need of the hour. I am teaching English and Math to the students of class 6th to 8th. I invited all the NGOs and Orphanages from my area and also the students who were eager to study and attend the online classes.I continued my efforts to teach remotely. I made simplified teaching material for the kids so that they can do self-study and provided them additional practice materials for the same. 

In the end, I would like to request all the readers to take good care of themselves and their families, maintaining proper caution and hygiene. Follow the government guidelines and practice isolation. This is the time when we all can spend quality time with our families and do what we could not do during our busy lives.
