COVID-19 will not stop Spring from arriving!

At the company I work for, UiPath, we've been advised to work remotely for obvious reasons but I, like many, miss that interaction with my clients, partners and colleagues. It actually makes me a little sad and flat that I don't get to be shaking hands with new contacts, laughing with old ones and collaborating with groups of people at events and larger meetings. But as I stepped outside briefly at lunch time on what I can only describe as a beautiful spring like day, I realised how excited I normally feel at this time of year. The sun is shining, the temperature is creeping upwards, I didn't need a heavy coat and I instantly felt brighter. Until I remembered that with the current COVID-19 situation, I might not enjoy it in the same way as I would normally. My holiday at the end of April is likely to be cancelled, my weekend away this weekend just gone was cancelled, and generally we all look like we'll be semi or fully housebound for the near future.
But, with all of that said, I am grateful for my health, the fact that I can still head outside if I like (albeit in the garden only if that's the way things go), and that things will improve at some point this year. This is not a desirable situation granted, we don't like change at the best of times and worse still, we don't like that feeling of being in limbo, well I don't 'cos I'm a control freak. But there's no one I can complain to, I didn't suffer badly in the recent floods, I don't have a serious illness, and things could be a lot worse.
So while I force myself to remain chipper, I urge us all, including myself, to be thankful and remember to feel blessed as we continue through this unknown time of our lives. Be grateful that most of us will be able to look back at some point and think about 'that time when we were struck by the Coronavirus', as some people won't get the chance.

4 年Love this time of year too, Linda. We will all need to raise our spirits in the months ahead. So enjoy the garden, the buds - the birdsong. Had a woodpecker at the end of our garden this morning (flew away when I approached) and pheasants calling to each other in the fields. We've got a long-tailed tit trying to fly in the lounge window with his partner. #enjoyspring
