The Covid-19 Pause button

When do you get the opportunity for time to stand still in your business. Sure we all know the huge negative impacts of the virus, but I always believe in the glass being half full rather than half empty. 

As a small business owner if you are not using this time to analyse the the reasons for the shortcomings in your business you are missing out on a once in a lifetime opportunity. 

• Take time out to understand some of those sub-systems in your business that you never get time to look at. 
• Look at your processes and improve your internal controls. 
• Catch up on all those laborious administrative tasks that you never get around to. 
• Understand and build your customer base and develop your marketing strategies going forward. 
• Conduct surveys using your customer base and social media for your target market. Understand what people want
• Focus on brand awareness so when this is over your target market identifies with your brand. 
• Identify key stakeholders and keep close to them
• Spend time thinking about your employees, what makes them tick and what motivates them. 

This opportunity hopefully only comes around once in a lifetime, so use it!
