COVID-19 Lull Continues, But China’s Back in the News

???According to Wednesday’s pandemic update from the World Health Organization, new cases and deaths attributable to COVID-19 continued their monthlong decline globally with new infections down 5% and deaths down 8% for the week.?

???While the lull continues for most of the world, the Western Pacific region stands out as an exception to that good news—especially Hong Kong, which saw an increase approaching 50% in new cases and, according to Oxford University, a death tally approaching 150 deaths per day, resulting in quarantines, shortages and, as mentioned last week, morgues running out of space. Nearby areas of mainland China have also seen a COVID-19 surge, resulting in widespread mitigation efforts.?
