Covid-19 and the lighting industrie
Did you know that ultraviolet light can fight viruses like Covid-19 Corona... You may have seen the UVD robot in the news ... Besides the technology the robot has, the bacteria and viruses are attacked by LIGHT. This is nothing new for us as a lighting specialist. Light with a wavelength of 253.7nm penetrates the cells and damages the nucleic acid, rendering them inoperable or microbiologically inactive. This process also takes place in nature; the sun emits UV rays that perform this way. This type of light is also already used for water treatment.
Normally, however, this type of light is well blocked by the atmosphere.
An additional advantage of this light is that oxygen is converted into ozone and thus slowly restores the ozone layer.
The disadvantage is that it is destructive for our skin cells. It should therefore not just be used in large quantities in front of people. Hence the robots. A face shield and polyester clothing serve as protection.
Viruses like Covid-19 need to be exposed intensively to make them inactive.
If soon "disinfectant lamps" come on the market for private use, caution is therefore required! Either they are harmful to humans and animals, or they don't quite do what they have to do ....
