COVID-19 Independent Agent Resources

COVID-19 Independent Agent Resources

Dear Wisconsin Independent Agent,

As you are aware, COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is a world-wide pandemic with major implications. It has created an environment where independent agents are having to respond to a multitude of coverage questions while simultaneously addressing operational challenges.

To assist the independent agency community, regardless of membership, through this trying time, we created a new resource page focused on the Coronavirus to help agents continue to operate effectively and properly respond to insureds requests. Both members and non-members will have access to these important materials and other pertinent resources to help their agency.

At www.iiaw.com/coronavirus, you will find a wide range of links to resources and articles that can assist you and your insureds with understanding the impacts, potential coverage gaps and how coverage may respond to different impacts from the Coronavirus and more. The page contains a letter pertaining to IIAW’s business operations and scheduled events and is split into 4 sections: Communicating to Customers, Agency Considerations for Operations and Employees, General Information and Webinars. Please contact the IIAW at [email protected] or 608.256.4429 if you need assistance with your login information.

We understand it can be challenging to shift through all the information and properly communicate to your clients. As a result, under the Communicating to Customers section, you will find various content you can use for engaging clients including graphics and informational PDFs.

We recognize how this can be a stressful and pressing time with this critical event. As agencies continue to plan, it is strongly recommended to reach out to your IT service provider and your phone provider to start the conversation of how you could allow employees to work remotely, if necessary. As it pertains to providing advice on coverage and claims, we also recommend that agents discuss with your staff potential E&O exposures that could be created by providing inaccurate coverage and claim advice. If you have further questions regarding agency operations or a unique situation not addressed on IIAW’s Coronavirus News & Resources page, please reach out. We are here to assist you regardless if you are a member or not.
