OK - here we go
Internal
We are currently a "remote by choice" workplace - i.e. if you prefer to, stay at home
More than likely we will go to a "remote for all" approach as a number of our team have kids & will need to support their families
All face to face clients meetings to move to video/phone (lets help flatten the curve peeps)
Clients
1 - Live link on our website to gov response info that we will update whenever we can
2 - 3 different videos (these are looms - so can't embed. Click the links to view if ya want)
- A video on the gov response
- A video on Illumin8s plans to respond
- How we plan to work remote & some tips for those who might need to as well
3 - A typeform that collects basic client info so that we don't miss anyone with concern (same form as referenced above)
Next steps
- Run industry specific webinars (if demand is high) to deliver basic plans en masse
- 1 on 1 calls for those with higher needs
- Connect with other professionals (HR, Finance, Legal specifically)
- Determine those that require deeper work (cashflow, strategy etc)
- Work out how we can deliver those services without strangling clients potentially non-existent cashflow reserves, whilst also not doing 2 months of work and not getting paid for it
Connecting with others
I've reached out to a bunch of other accountants in our area to grab a brainstorming session - If we can work together, our community wins. I'd much rather give away IP, and see my business community come out well, than keep it to my chest and find it decimated.
How we plan to be paid for it (4 options - haven't figured this out really, just my headspace)
- Some might be free
- Some might be discounted
- Some might have extended payment terms
- Some might be full price
Final thoughts
The impact of Covid-19 on small business will be significant. The best way you can help is by supporting your local community.
Things such as
- If you get some takeaway - call them direct rather than use Uber Eats/Menulog so they get the full revenue
- Buy gift vouchers that you plan to use later on
- Keep buying the local coffee
- Go to the family owned business over the big chain
- Share what you have - other might have less
Much love, shakas and jazz hand waves from a distance
Andrew & Team Illumin8
And yes - Whisky does come in 60% ABV or higher...killing Covid-19 dead in its tracks...

4 年Thanks for sharing Andrew, nicely said!
Helping small business owners understand the numbers behind their business ? Accountant ? Speaker
4 年Thank you for sharing! Maybe we all need to have a big brainstorm to come up with some creative ideas and then spread them. Love the order directly and keep purchasing local coffee! Maybe we can focus on online shopping from local boutiques and gift shops. Another thing I was thinking about in the light of all the comedy festivals being cancelled, maybe those artists can host paid online performances? If the price is right am sure people would sign up. Just putting some of my thoughts out there.
