Covid - 19: how to Deal, Heal & Recover

Namaskar,

I hope you all are safe. staying at home and looking after your health & immunity!

As we know, the entire world is afraid and anxious to see the numbers of infected people rise globally, with heavy casualties, especially in India.

First and foremost,

Stress & negatively affects our immunity. This deterioration makes us more susceptible to infections. Unless it is your job to track the numbers and incidences – avoid binging on Covid headlines and updates.

Medical practitioners and caregivers worldwide are battling this deadly virus with all the resources and ingenuity at their disposal. Scientists, research specialists and medical professionals are doing their best by studying, monitoring, and investigating the virus to produce advanced and affordable solutions to this pandemic.

They are all doing their job. We must do ours as a responsible citizen and a conscientious individual – we must take adequate precautions and take good care of our self!

Stop looking for morbid incidences, Twitter updates, news or WhatsApp discussions on the topic. Help others when required, but stay away from unproductive gossip-mongering. Invest this time wisely on yourself and your dear ones.

When we are physically and mentally unprepared– we lack the confidence to face challenges in life. And then we get stressed and panic.

There is much confusion among people on whether one should take the vaccine or not, whether there will be any side effect from the doses or if it will be effective or not. The media has also played a role in amplifying sensational news, considering so many points of views, confusing viewers and spreading anxiety.

Our fear regarding Covid-19 stems from incomplete knowledge and resulting insecurities.

Our subconscious processes all data that our mind registers - even the bits that we ignore, forget or try to delete from memory. We must feed positive and productive data to our subconscious, instead of sensational and negative data. It will help our mind and body towards positive.

Our system in totality - be it our conscious or subconscious mind, our brain and physical body is designed with careful attention to detail and near-optimum coordination. When we trust in the system and keep it healthy, it works miracles for us.

Our mind, gut and immunity are all interlinked. Those who have done our Basic Wellbeing Course would instantly connect to the point I am trying to make here.

Have you ever thought of why people have varying symptoms, why some people are symptomatic while some do not get infected at all – and why bodies react differently to people with similar virus load?

It is the immunity – the mindset – the preparation that matters. We need to boost and support our immunity, have a positive outlook and be physically and mentally prepared to fight the virus in such an adverse environment.

There are a few essential agreements I want you all to make with your self – which will keep you safe and secure during these trying times.

The first essential agreement is to follow a proper diet and maintaining balanced nutrition levels. It will strengthen and nourish your system - not just your body, but mind and hormones too.

The second essential agreement is your physical fitness, which comes with proper exercise, yoga and a good lifestyle. Exercise does not mean merely following the trendiest Instagram or Youtube workout. Yoga does not mean twisting and turning and checking your body's flexibility to a choreographed routine. It means bringing your mind, body and conscience to an equal frequency. A good lifestyle does not mean being a teetotaller - it means consciously setting habits that you can follow with practice, discipline and determination.

The third essential agreement is regarding mindset and preparation. You must boost yourself with positive affirmations and meditation, where the power of your mind, conscience, energy & thoughts amalgamate and consciously flow in a positive direction. According to Bhagavad Gita “For those who have conquered the mind, it is their friend. For those who have failed to do so, the mind works as an enemy.” our mind has endless capabilities and it totally depends on how you tame it, train it and command it!

What if you test positive for Covid-19?

first of all, do not panic.

If you test covid positive, do not waste your time panicking unnecessarily. Contact your family doctor and ask them to refer you to a Covid specialist in your area. Along with Covid medication, they will prescribe you medication based on your medical records and your current condition.

Once your doctor has started your treatment, it is your responsibility to take your medication on time, eat and hydrate well, and most importantly, monitor yourself and report accurately to your doctor.

I highly recommend maintaining a journal to track your symptoms and medicines. It is crucial to take the prescribed medication on time. Proper hydration is an essential part of recovery – keep hydrating yourself without any negligence. You need to flush out toxins and keep your system light and clean.

Your body needs rest and sleep to heal itself from within. Avoid too much time spent on social media and listen to your body when it needs rest.

Make sure you do not do something strenuous while your body is recuperating.

When your body is fighting Covid or any other virus, your system becomes vulnerable and cannot focus on many things simultaneously. Your immune system is fighting a war inside to win over the beast, so be it food, home remedies or exercise - do not try anything that requires much exertion, that distracts or overwhelms your system.

Keep it easy, keep it light, and keep going.

During recovery, proper nutrition and home remedies can work wonders!

Before you try something new, you must be aware of your own body and mind. Everyone is different, and these remedies differ from people to people depending on body type & medical background. While our body and immunity are fighting this war to win over Covid – do not distract it with anything new or aggressive.

One of my clients recently consulted me after facing the negative effects of self-planned home remedy. He is a very successful Indian banker in London living an extremely healthy lifestyle, yet he got infected and tested positive for Covid-19.

As advised by friends and family, he began taking a kadha made of fresh ginger, lemon and tulsi leaves. This advice, while given with the best intentions, was ignorant of his medical history. We know that the mentioned remedy is common for all Indian families - however, my client's health declined drastically after taking it. His history of haemorrhoids, triggered by that home remedy, caused him pain and profuse bleeding.

Generally, the kadha may not have affected him if taken once or twice, but with his body engaged in a fight against Covid, his defences were weak against haemorrhoids

the food we consume is as potent as medicine. I repeat the food we eat is as potent and as powerful as medicine. Since I’m not a medical practitioner, I never prescribe medicine, I use food to heal & treat conditions related to mind-body & emotions – I keep repeating this all the time – our gut is our second brain – and it has good control over our physical, mental & emotional health!

So before you try something new, you must be aware of your own body and mind

You should not try anything new and extreme in terms of food, exercise or home remedies for instant relief without consulting your doctor or a health practitioner first. Once infected, you should immediately get in touch with a nutritionist or a health expert and discuss your medical history and consult for your non-medical remedies.

Now, do you understand the importance of doing the background health check? Many food and herbs work well for the majority, but some might have side effects because of specific conditions, or just because of the body type – so, no adventure & surprises, please!

And finally, the magic potion - Stay calm and positive, indulge your mind in positive thinking and discussions, and dedicate all of your attention to yourself and your speedy recovery.

Always remember that your body needs nutrition and positivity at the same time.

I get various emails and messages asking for help with home remedies and diet and, my first answer will always be - Keep your calm.

I avoid any specific recommendations unless I check the medical background for anyone new. When a new client signs up for my wellbeing therapies – which include physical fitness regimes, yoga, mental health treatments, or treating lifestyle diseases through diet and nutrition, I make sure a good amount of time is invested to understand the patient's profession, lifestyle, family, medical history & condition. I use methods of documented conversation, some pathological and medical tests for clarity and deeper insight, and extensive analysis to provide a safe and sustainable plan to heal & strengthen the whole symbiotic relationship.

Covid positive or not – you must maintain the three essential agreements which we discussed.

And please, avoid monitoring Covid-19 cases and related events. You need to re-channel your energy, time and efforts into something creative and productive! Be optimistic, strong and keep praying for your near and dear ones.

Sarve bhavantu sukhinah, sarve santu niramayah

Sarve bhadrani pasyantu, ma kascid dukha bhagbhaveta.

Om shanti, shanti, shanti

Which translates to - may all be happy, may all be free from illness,

may all see what is auspicious, may no one be unhappy or distressed.

Om peace… This is my humble prayer for each one of you.

God bless.
