Don't let inactivity cause you to develop problems with your heart and lungs.
Aerobic exercise is excellent for building lung capacity. During swimming (for example), your heart rate increases alongside your lung efficiency. This exercise is great because it activates the large muscle groups that require large volumes of oxygen to perform their task. Our other favourite workout is TRAMPOLINING. Bouncing on a trampoline for a little as 20 minutes a few times a week can help strengthen your heart and lungs. It does this by lowering blood pressure and improving lung capacity.
While we have incorporated swimming and bouncing, JOY is anchored in dance fitness because this is the one exercise that is fun and has all the elements you need to experience freedom while you are getting fit. More than that, we have been waging war on a virus that attacks the respiratory system by damaging the walls and linings of the air sacs in the lungs. As the body tries to fight it, the lungs become more inflamed and fill with fluid. This can make it harder for them to swap oxygen and carbon dioxide. That realization is enough to make anyone want to increase and strengthen their lung capacity. Apart from actual experience, there has been tons of research done on the benefits of exercise on the human – body, mind, and soul. Add music to that and we have a winning formula.
According to https://breathe.ersjournals.com/content/15/2/116 , “many people with chronic lung diseases have seen the potential for music and dance to contribute to their health and well-being, and are taking part in Arts in Health activities, such as group singing and community dance groups. This area deserves attention and investigation to see how and where such approaches fit in the world of evidence-based medicine.”
While we wait for that investigation to be concluded, YOU try it for yourself and witness the benefits of swimming, bouncing and dance fitness on your overall well-being. As you do this, you will find JOY and once you have found it, don’t forget to share it ??
