COVID-19: A Boon Or A Curse !!!!!!!!
XYZ is a Recruitment firm having Target ratio of 6times of CTC, No Incentive, No Bonus, No Rewards & Recognition policy. Only yearly performance appraisal is there, criteria is 6times of CTC target should be achieved.
SCENE 1: During financial year April 2019-March 2020, some employees achieve 6times target, few gets 5times, 4times & respectively in a hope to get some salary hike in April2020.
SCENE 2: Since mid March 2020, due to Covid pandemic Work From Home started (includes 24*7 availability with Laptop, internet, telephonic calls, whtsapp, Video call, Mail, client co-ordination)………In short, working hours increased from 8-9 hrs/day to 14hrs-15hrs/day…...“WELCOME TO HELL”
SCENE 3: Most interesting part, in April2020, instead of Increment, employees received a mail about “Salary PAY CUT” of 40% - 75% for next 3-6months. Reason mentioned as “Lack of business”. Assurance given to revive old salary once business returns…… “HOPES turned into ASHES”
SCENE 4: Employees had no choice so accepted the Paycut assuming it as temporary affair…… “ERA of STRUGGLE starts”
SCENE 5: Business returns in August-September fully, profit generated, billing comes but XYZ still continues Paycut.
SCENE 6: Employees request for normalizing the old salary and stop Paycut, as Business has bounce back. Please NOTE, requested for old salary and not any 2020 hike/appraisal/increment.
SCENE 7: XYZ cunningly turned down the salary normalization request, stating that to get back full salary, one needs to achieve the 6times target for year 2020. Since no one reached target so no full salary………..“BIG BLUNDER”/ “PATHETIC TWIST”
?Fact Highlights: In April PayCut mail, XYZ reasoned “Lack of business due to COVID” for PayCut. Now to continue PayCut, the target clause is being added & used (How is it even possible to have full targets in Paycut?)…………XYZ’s Shrewd move to save money from PayCut.
SCENE 8: It’s 2021 January, employees still under PayCut……..XYZ gracefully saving money by “PAYCUT”.
“PAYCUT” might be a smaller word but should be used wisely as it has the power to turn someone’s life Upside down…..THINK. In the entire scenario, XYZ is the only gainer with 5-6hrs extra work support from employees in lesser salary, targets achieved in 2019-2020 is pocketed, took full advantage of COVID. Employees got PAYCUT, Long work duration, Huge work stress, Demotivation, Depression, Frustration, feeling Exploited.
Moral: To Employers COVID-19 is A BOON, To Employees it’s A CURSE ………..
