COVID-19: BINA FOUNDATION COMMENCED MASSIVE AWARENESS AS MEASURES TO PREVENT SPREAD OF THE PANDEMIC IN ENUGU, NIGERIA.

Bina Foundation for people with special needs has started taking  proactive measures to support the health and well-being of persons with disabilities against COVID-19. Speaking at the Foundation’s organized awareness, prevention and demonstrations campaign on COVID-19 pandemic on the 19th of March, 2020, Dr. Ikenna Emedike, Foundation’s physician stated that the Foundation's focus  in this effort continues to be on promoting solidarity, learning and sharing as we respond to the challenges this pandemic presents to our foundation and our  work as a disability organization. We remain resilient in the face of the pandemic and its impacts.

Some of the specific measures we are taking in this regard include: suspension of 2020 Skills acquisition training program for our esteemed students with effect from 19th March, 2020, setting up monitoring and response teams to define and implement relevant measures to protect staff and others who are part of the Community. Provision of necessary and key preventive tools within and outside the Foundation for use of the staff and other members of the Community at this trying moment. 

Bina Foundation remains committed to our mission to promote inclusive development and economic sustainability for all persons with disability. We understand the negative impacts such pandemics can cause in the life of persons with disability - and that this situation is an opportunity to rethink how we work and deepen our impact on our key populations. We will continue to ensure that they are updated on the latest development, making sure that they all adjust to rapidly changing situations.
