COVID-19 and Addressing Panic
The recent COVID-19 pandemic has been escalating recently into a problem of serious global concern. That said, it won’t help anyone to panic over it. There are many measures that need to be taken to handle the situation, but COVID-19 is an obstacle we can work around healthily, without falling into complete disorder. First of all, we have to be very cautious at this time to keep things sanitary and adhere to “social distancing” whenever possible. COVID-19 is a threat because of its exponential growth, not because of its current potency. Local and state governments have been putting regulations into effect that slow down this growth, and health officials are handling it very professionally to minimize negative outcomes. In this time of social distancing, though, it’s important to remember that this is not a disease we fight by fighting each other, but a disease we fight by coming together in our efforts to beat it. Everyone needs to help out to make sure that COVID-19 stays under control. Washing hands before and after contact with strangers, pets, and food is necessary. Avoiding large public places is highly recommended. What we don’t want to happen is for workplaces to shut down that don’t deal with the public directly. CLOUDETEER is one of those workplaces. Work can still be handled at the proper distance, and we can still continue to help each other out, without suspicion, and without panic. If you feel it’s necessary to quarantine yourself to protect your family, or have been ordered to quarantine, that’s okay. We’re fortunate that it’s possible for us to work from home. There are some steps we’d recommend taking to ensure that working from home goes smoothly. First, keep a to-do list updated. It’s very easy to get distracted while working from home. Since it’s not most people’s usual work environment, they feel like they should be relaxing while at home, playing with pets, lounging on the couch, or talking with family. Unfortunately, there’s still things to do, so make yourself adhere to your schedule so we can keep things running efficiently. Don’t let work get too exhausting because of this. Many people who work from home get off schedule enough that they lose free-time and heighten their stress levels. By sticking to a schedule, you can keep free-time for evenings and weekends so you can clear your mind a bit, de-stress, unwind, and prepare for whatever the next day brings.
Remember to get fresh air every once in a while. Just because you’re avoiding public places doesn’t mean you should be afraid to walk around the neighborhood or exercise outdoors. Meal prep can also help, since your eating habits will change as a side effect of staying home, avoiding restaurants, and buying groceries in bulk. Note on that - just take what you need for the immediate future, even when buying in bulk. There’s no shortage of food but we have to be considerate to our neighbors.
Paranoia at this time is a big stress of its own, so it’s especially important to take care of yourself mentally for that reason. We all have ways of coping with stress. Don’t overdo them, and try to keep yourself healthy. If we all try to stay healthy, and support each other at this time, that’s the best thing we can do.
