They will not cover the incident...

She received a notice from the insurance company with the following message: "We will not cover your incident because you are not qualified".?She got stressed thinking about where she could find money to pay for it. The company took three weeks to perform an exhaustive incident investigation receiving statements and reviewing other evidence. During this process, she was praying to God for protection and help because she was a newcomer with a limited budget

When I read the notice, the term "qualified" caught my attention, and I wondered, what does it mean? (critical thinking and?attention to detail skills)

I?researched the legal implications of this term regarding insurance coverage to identify what could be the problem (problem-solving skill). First, I called friends to ask what their experience was with this. Some told me: "just make a claim";?others said: "so it is here", and one said, "... in the abundance of the counsellors there is victory" (coaching and interview skill). Second, I analyzed three regulations that could be related to insurance issues. In detail, I reviewed what the term qualified could mean. I did not find such a definition or any related concept to this. (legal interpretation, data collection, and critical thinking skills). Third, to make an informed and rational decision, I worked on assessing all the facts and understanding what the company’s purpose was. Then, I chose the best course of action. I told her, let's go to talk with the insurance company's manager (decision-making and leadership skills)

The customer service clerk tried to help me with "someone" in the company but I asked for the manager (leadership skill). First, I explained to the manager that I knew there are several instances to appeal the notice and this was the first (creating a sense of importance/urgency - change management skill). Second, I asked him to explain to me what was the legal definition of "qualified". He found some details in its internal information system but I insisted saying: "I am talking about the legal definition of the term "qualified". We talked about the same question three times. Finally, he was not able to find what I required. He accepted my claim and said that the insurance policy would cover the incident (negotiation skill)
