The Courage to Let Go
Do you ever feel like things are spiraling out of control; that you are upside down, ready to fall from the solid earth into the sky below? Everyone I know has felt this way at some point in time. In our accelerating, culture-busting, multi-dimensional zeitgeist it not an uncommon feeling. The response to it is often to hunker down, close up and try to control even more the people and things around you.
I believe what is most needed is the courage to let go. This is not easy to access or to do since we live in a control obsessed cultural milieu. We measure finer and more discrete amounts of substances, of things and even time itself. Yet, the more we have developed our capacity to measure, to weigh, to analyze and to differentiate, the more out of control our lives and environments can feel.
What if, most everything you knew, was only a partial truth at best? What might you make of your life and your workplace if you more actively cultivated the courage to let go, to step into the next moment with a curious mind and open heart? Instead of striving to control the moments in your life you will find a greater freedom by directly experiencing them, being open to the surprising connectivity and depths of relating that occur when we "open up" to possibility, to living more wholly in the present moment. This means the courage to stay open and to be curious about the other person, the situation, the group or even our "interpretation" of the world around us. What do you need to let go of, to release, in order to be more present, connected, loving and effective?

9 年Your message seems counterintuitive, Dusty, in this frenetic out of control environment... and yet, it is the medicine everyone I meet is seeking. Thanks for expressing it so well.
Actually trust in yourself works equally as well. If you achieve that through belief in a Creator then so be it, but that is not required.

9 年I believe that it is not just by chance that you put this as a eight courage. Am I right? I guess one should develop and manifest the other types of courage before this "let it go" one. To do it vice versa might to do with the laziness....:-) But it certainly takes courage to accept that in life there is more unknown than known things...
