Courage To Face Your Demons

Our demons representing our inner fears, insecurities, doubts, or negative thoughts and beliefs, are the source of many of our problems, suffering, and unhappiness. Our demons are thoughts, beliefs, opinions, and stories we’ve created about ourselves over time.

Everything you desire lies on the other side of facing your demons.

To achieve worthy goals and desires, we must first recognize our demons. Brendon Burchard writes in?The Motivation Manifesto: “Our destiny is decided by how well we know our demons, how well we defend against them, and how many battles we win against them each day.”

Like an iceberg submerged underwater, demons that influence unhappiness, disruption, and chaos live below the level of consciousness—in our subconscious. They impact our actions and behaviors, yet we often don’t know they exist or how to deal with them.

We can only stop our demons from having power over us by facing them. Not everything we face can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it’s faced.

It is often easier to remain in denial, but the only way to move forward is to square off with and confront our innermost demons. We can only work on improving something once we take responsibility and accept it’s ours to work on.

It takes courage to face our demons, and can be uncomfortable and painful. However, no matter how difficult, it is the only way to live an authentic life and experience happiness, fulfillment, and freedom.

I can’t tell you how to confront your demons or whether or not you should, nor would I try,?but here are a few things that worked for me over the years.

• Be mindful of the influence demons have on your behavior and your life. This kind of self-awareness requires you to be aware of your thoughts and your emotions and be willing to examine them
• Develop the courage and strength to take full ownership of your demons without judging them as good or bad
• Remember that our demons are part of us, and they are ultimately our responsibility to come to terms with—if we choose
• We’re making a choice to hold on to our demons, and if we want to, we can choose to create a new option to let go
