As we come to the end of September, County Cost Consultants is more committed than ever to delivering the best service and outcomes for our clients. Major changes have impacted the UK cost law sector since October 2023 in the form of the Fixed Recoverable Costs (FRC) rules. Our team has been well prepared for the aforementioned changes and adapted to their implications adeptly for nearly the past year.

County Cost Handling FRC Rules

The FRC rules were created to streamline costs for civil cases, bringing both opportunities and challenges. However, our team has already demonstrated its expertise in this area.

A recent case involving credit hire and repair claims provided an early test of the new FRC scheme. The claim was initially valued at nearly ￡30k, but after part of the claim was admitted, the defendant sought to allocate the remainder to the small claims track. Drawing on our deep knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) and the FRC system, we successfully applied for judgement on the admitted amount, allowing our client to recover FRC costs.

This case gave our team confidence when handling the changes and ensures that we are able to deliver results for clients in FRC cases. Our in-depth understanding of the rules ensures that we are able to maximise cost recovery and protect our clients’ interests.
