A leading international construction and projects company is looking to employ a suitably qualified and highly experienced professional as the Country Manager in their office in Dar es Salaam or Dodoma in Tanzania.
The company is global leader in EPC type of projects and has been involved in projects in more than 40 countries worldwide with a strong reputation in the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) sector.
As a lead developer in the EPC space, their focus relates to
???????? civil engineering,
???????? plant development.
They provide comprehensive and diverse solutions in each of the above sectors.
?The Country Head will be responsible for the strategic goals and operational business objectives in terms of the development of new projects in the EAC region.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum 10 + years of experience in the infrastructure market for EPC and PPP and be a Tanzanian citizen or a citizen of an EAC country, but who has been living in Tanzania for more than 10 years.
A competitive market related remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Amongst others, the key performance areas will include:
- Maintaining market intelligence activities on a real-time basis.
- Regular market intelligence reporting to principals.
- Developing and maintaining a close relationship with potential clients and partners.
- Exploration of new business opportunities based on public and undisclosed market intelligence.
- Evaluation and creation of new business opportunities in the target market.
- Competence in conventional competitive bid (Design-Build, EPC) preparation and presentation.
- Monitoring of tender schedules and client activities.
- Development of winning strategy and action plan based on the updated information
- Proposal preparation management and review based on the client’s requirement - Investment projects (EPC+F, PPP)
- Understanding and identification of project and their development conditions
- Development of winning strategy in close coordination with the regional director based on the updated information
- Networking with relevant parties in the target area.
- Preparation of risk register for the development and execution of the project including mitigation measure
- Search and analysis on the relevant legal framework and financial models for project development
- Providing accurate and timely reports for head office internal review process for project development
- Active communication with colleagues and directors in Seoul and Istanbul
?Requisite Qualifications, Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, And Experience.
Qualifications & Competencies
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (Engineering or similar).
- A relevant postgraduate business degree, e.g., MBA.
- Native or fluency competence in English is mandatory.
- Business fluency in French will be advantageous.
- Citizenship of Tanzania is mandatory.
- Alternatively, the ideal candidate will be a citizen of an EAC country who has been resident in Tanzania for more than 10 years.
- Minimum 10 + years of experience in the infrastructure market for EPC and PPP.
- EPC execution or EPC tender submission experience in the target area.
- 7+ years of experience at least at the manager level in the international EPC contractors (ideally with an organization with an ENR ranking of 150) or public/private developers – such as MDBs (IFC, ADB, AFDB, EIB, EBRD, IsDB, etc.), public developers (AFD, Norfund, etc.) and any private
- Solid experience in business development.
- Country manager or equivalent experience in the international EPC contractors or public/private developers
- Demonstrable experience of EPC+F (or PPP) involvement.
- In-depth understanding of EPC+F or PPP financing scheme.
- Ability to establish and analyse financial models for projects.
- Demonstrably close networks with government authorities, financial institutions, and private entities in Tanzania and the EAC.
- Current information and know-how in respect of the legal/regulatory framework of the PPP law, policy, and regulation.
- Current information and knowledge in respect of environment and envisaged projects in Tanzania and the EAC.
- Cooperative and stakeholder management experience with international contractors.
- In-depth understanding of FIDIC red, yellow, and silver books is mandatory.

- Well-developed and proven leadership abilities in the construction and infrastructure industry.
- Personal and interpersonal gravitas and the ability to influence and persuade at all levels with all stakeholders internally and externally.
- An ability to lead and manage and interface with all stakeholders in a relatively varied and complex environment.
- Exceptional business nous will be required.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities will be required.
- Demonstrable record of achievement in the industry.
