A country that doesn't prioritize it's Veterans is doomed to lose the next generation of Sailors and Soldiers

I just got off the phone with a VA representative who answered some questions about health care options for my family. The rep stated that as long as I was a 100% service connected disabled veteran, then my family would qualify for an array of benefits and I just needed to submit an application. This was great news. The great news however, ended there. I asked what the current response time was for new applicants was and he responded that they currently have a backlog of 21,420 applications and are currently working on February applications.

Of course I instantly had all the same old guilty punch lines running through my head from 10 years of experience in the military leading me to the conclusion that this must be my fault in some way. I have to say though, that this is not our fault. We volunteered and risked our lives for a country that is now run by bureaucracies which quite honestly don't give a rats ass about it. That's the honest take. We have a country that prioritizes health care for people who are in our country illegally over people and families who have lost loved ones or risked their lives for this country. I am not connected to the military anymore so I can honestly say that our government agencies and our president are an embarrassment. I am embarrassed by them. I am embarrassed by the brazen lies about our presidents vigor, I am embarrassed by the clear and complicit nature of mainstream media and utterly offended that they think we are stupid enough to be fooled by it. I am truly and honestly ashamed that this is the country we have left. A country my brothers gave their lives for and I am not shying away from bringing this to light. 21,420 applications behind...Thanks for your service. Enough pretending that "Staying positive" is going to fix the bureaucracies that have ruined our institutions and are indoctrinating our children. MY children. Enough. We need to get better at complaining and voting for representatives at the local level who have the courage to represent the will of the people over the interest of donors. I am blessed, lucky and I don't quit, I will be fine and my family will be fine. But there are a lot of veterans and their families...maybe 21,420 of them who are not fine and will not be fine.
