Countries: Gabon
Gabon?is a country on the Atlantic coast of?Central Africa, on the?equator, bordered by?Equatorial Guinea?to the northwest, Cameroon?to the north, the?Republic of the Congo?on the east and south, and the?Gulf of Guinea?to the west.
Early history includes migrating?Bantu peoples?from the north, such as the?Fang.
The?Bantu peoples?are an?indigenous grouping?of approximately 400 distinct native?African?ethnic groups?who speak?Bantu languages. The languages are native to countries spread over a vast area from West Africa, to Central Africa, Southeast Africa and into Southern Africa.
During a wave of expansion, Bantu-speaking populations gradually left their original homeland of West-Central Africa and traveled to the eastern and southern regions of the continent.
The?Fang people, also known as F?n or Pahouin, are a Bantu?ethnic group found in?Equatorial Guinea, northern?Gabon, and southern?Cameroon.
The coast became a center of the transatlantic slave trade. Along the west coast of Africa, from the Cameroons in the south to Senegal in the north, Europeans built more than 50 forts that served as trading posts for slave trade.
Following the Great Flood (c. 2100 BC), which destroys all of humanity except the family of Noah, Genesis 10 presents a family tree in the form of a branched or segmented genealogy, tracing the descendants of Noah’s three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, and their descendants. Many of these names become future nations, tribes, lands and cities, known to us from elsewhere in the Bible and from extra-biblical sources: Accordingly, this chapter is referred to as the “Table of Nations.”
