Countries: Albania

Albania?is a country in?Southeast Europe. It is located in the?Balkans, on the?Adriatic?and?Ionian Seas?within the?Mediterranean Sea, and shares?land borders with Montenegro, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Greece.

In ancient times, Albania was home to several Illyrian tribes such as the Albanoi, Ardiaei, Bylliones, Dassaretii, Enchele, Labeatae, Taulantii, Parthini, Penestae, Amantes, and many others.

The Illyrians were a group of tribes who inhabited the western Balkans. The territory the tribes covered came to be known as Illyria to Greek and Roman authors, corresponding roughly to the area between the Adriatic Sea in the west, the Drava river in the north, the Morava river in the east and the mouth of Vjos? river in the south.?

From?classical antiquity?through the?Middle Ages, the Balkan Mountains were called by the local?Thracian?name?Haemus.

Illyricum was a Roman province that existed from 27 BC to sometime during the reign of Emperor Vespasian (r. 69–79 AD). The province comprised Illyria and Dalmatia in the south and Pannonia in the north. The area is now principally occupied by Yugoslavia and Albania.

In the 2nd millennium BC, Illyricum was occupied by Indo-European speaking people. The Greeks first colonized it in the 600 BC. The Macedonian kings warred against the tribes of Illyricum in the 4th century.?

Around that same time Skodra was founded by the Illyrian tribe of Labeatae and became the capital of the Illyrian kingdom, one of the most important cities of the Balkans.

In 335 BC, shortly after his assumption of kingship over Macedonia, Alexander the Great?campaigned in the Balkans?and reasserted control over?Thrace?and parts of?Illyria?before marching on the city of?Thebes, which was?subsequently destroyed in battle. Alexander then led the?League of Corinth.

Different versions of the genealogy of the Illyrians, their tribes and their eponymous ancestor,?Illyrius, existed in the ancient world.

According to historian?Appian of Alexandria, Polyphemus and?Galatea?gave birth to?Celtus,?Galas, and?Illyrius. These three brothers are considered the founders of Celts, Galatians and Illyrians.

Vespasian (r. 69 to 79 AD) was the last emperor to reign in the?Year of the Four Emperors. He founded the?Flavian Dynasty, which ruled the Roman Empire for 27 years.

While Vespasian was fighting the First Jewish–Roman War, Emperor Nero (r. 54-68 AD)?committed suicide and plunged Rome into a year of civil war known as the Year of the Four Emperors.?

It's considered the first civil war of the?Roman Empire, during which four emperors ruled in succession: Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian.

The apostle Paul (c.?5-65?AD), who spread the?teachings?of?Jesus, is considered the author of the books of Roman, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 and 2 Thessalonians, 1 and 2 Timothy, and Philemon.

Paul was persecuted and imprisoned in Rome before being executed around 65 AD.

Following the Great Flood (c. 2100 BC), which destroys all of humanity except the family of Noah, Genesis 10 presents a family tree in the form of a branched or segmented genealogy, tracing the descendants of Noah’s three sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, and their descendants. Many of these names become future nations, tribes, lands and cities, known to us from elsewhere in the Bible and from extra-biblical sources: Accordingly, this chapter is referred to as the “Table of Nations.”

In the Book of Genesis, the mountains of Ararat is the term used to designate the region in which Noah's Ark comes to rest after the Great Flood (c. 2100 BC), which destroys all of humanity except the family of Noah.

From these eight people …. Noah, his sons and their wives …? the whole earth was populated.
