Counting the Days, Reflecting on the Costs

Counting the Days, Reflecting on the Costs

As we approach the final stretch of our 6+X years of veterinary education, a whirlwind of emotions envelops us. Graduation looms on the horizon, and it's a moment of profound reflection. These days, we're not just counting the days, but also recounting the trials and tribulations, the highs and lows, that have shaped us.

Counting the days, we can't help but recall the relentless pursuit of knowledge, punctuated by the emotional turmoil of failed tests and exams. The sleepless nights, the anxiety that gripped us before each critical evaluation — all were part of the journey. But it's those challenges that made us stronger, forging our path to success.

Financially, many of us have known the struggle of being broke students, scrimping and saving to make ends meet. The sacrifices we made and the burden on our parents are etched in our memories. Their unwavering support is a testament to their belief in our dreams.

Now, as we stand on the precipice of graduation, we pray for success with every fiber of our being. We pray not only for ourselves but for each and every one of us who've shared this incredible journey. Our collective dreams and aspirations ride on this moment, a moment when our hard work and determination culminate in a brighter future.

Looking ahead, we wonder what the future holds for us as we leave the school environment. What roles will we play in the lives of animals and the communities we serve? How will we use our knowledge and skills to make a lasting impact?

The future stretches before us like an open book, ready to be written. We can choose to step into private practice, contribute to government agencies, pioneer groundbreaking research, or champion the cause of animal welfare. Our journey has equipped us with the tools to bring about change and make a tangible difference.

As we count down to graduation, let us pray and celebrate not only our accomplishments but also the sheer determination that brought us here. The future is a canvas waiting for us to paint our dreams upon. Together, we will rise, and our collective success will shine as a beacon, lighting the way for the future of veterinary medicine in Nigeria.
