Counter doubt with belief
The world is changing rapidly and doubt seems to browbeat us almost every day. Most of our thoughts are ineffable and the pith of all our problems is worry. Just as a world without war is a chimera, our lives without worry seem impossible. However, can worry be avoided? I do not think so. One of my favourite epigrams is, “Obstacles are the frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal.” Worry is nothing but an obstacle. We often bemoan the defeats but do we celebrate so much our wins. Few will agree to it. You might have heard of stories especially the ‘rags to riches’ ones but rarely do we sit and ponder on how tumultuous the situation would have been for them when there were obscure actors, industrialists, writers, artists, musicians and sportsmen. We only see the denouement of their efforts but the time they spend on polishing their craft is worth thinking about. Every great thing takes time and that is all that matters. If you think your parents have not cosseted you with celerity of solutions to all your atrocities then congratulations, you are being shown the real face of life. I often have come across students coming from humble backgrounds doing wonders. The cardinal reason for this is that they are not afraid to fail. They know they cannot go any further down since they have already tasted dust, hence, are willing to face any adversity with confidence. Failure is a part of success, an irrefutable part. When in doubt, believe, tomorrow will be better. Get besotted with the taste of success and then you will spend less time worrying. That is why aiming big is so important. You cannot hold on for longer until your goal is prodigious. After all, life’s battles don’t always go to the stronger or faster man, but sooner or later the man who wins is the man who thinks he can!
