Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress

This year’s International Women’s Day theme serves as a rallying cry for inclusivity, investment, and swift advancement toward a more equitable and progressive future for women.

Breaking gender stereotypes in innovation and technology

The association of innovation, science, and technology with men for much of history is rooted in societal norms, stereotypes, and historical gender roles. Traditional gender roles often assigned women to domestic responsibilities, while men were expected to engage in activities outside the home, including those related to science and technology. This division of labor led to the perception that certain fields, particularly those requiring advanced education and expertise, were predominantly male.

Over time, societal attitudes have evolved, and efforts have been made to address gender disparities in various fields. Organizations and individuals are increasingly recognizing the importance of diversity and inclusion in fostering innovation. Women have made significant contributions to science and technology, but there is still work to be done to overcome existing gender biases and create an environment that encourages the full utilization of all available talent, regardless of gender.

I'm looking forward to read the book by Katrine Kielos-Mar?al. Another tip - We Should All Be Feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. This book was gifted to me some years ago by a wise person who felt I needed further education on the subject. I'm glad they did.
