Count Each Step

In life, every step we take counts. The direction we choose to follow. Every left turn (and every right turn) matters. You may not know it now. The connections you make along the way; the relationships you build as you #walkthepath – it all matters. Take the path slowly. Experience the moments. Learn from the experiences. This is how life is lived.
Full title: Count Each Step Because Each Step Counts
Last week . . . the week starting Monday, August 21, 2023 . . . was bitter-sweet. I celebrated my birthday on August 23rd. Hundreds of you – my connections on LinkedIn – sent me birthday wishes, even belated wishes, and I was grateful and touched by the outpouring of sentiment.?
The bitter part: The day before my birthday I met with my cardiologist and . . . long story short . . . I found out that I’m dying sooner than expected.
Let’s put this all into perspective.
My heart attack last October (2022) left my heart severely damaged. Most recent tests show no improvement in my heart’s condition. According to the medical professionals, I am likely to have a second heart attack (even with medication, a change in diet, and daily exercise). This next one is likely to kill me.
On an interesting side note, my good friend Mitch Gray told me a story recently about a young man who died of a heart attack recently (within the past year). There were no indications that this man’s heart was going to fail on him. Sometimes it’s just the way it is.
Respect Someone’s Reality
There are many sides to this conversation. The first is to meet me where I am. That is, respect my reality. Of the many things that Mitch Gray will reinforce in any conversation, the first is to respect someone’s realty. Meet someone where they are. Acknowledge their situation and the feelings associated with it. That is the only way to establish and maintain trust with the individual. My reality is that I am going to die. At this point, sooner than I would want.
From another perspective, people such as Mitch Gray and Eileen Bild tell me there is much more to life. Life can be manifested in different ways. In other words, the medical professionals in my circle are only explaining my reality from their experience and professional training. And this is good. One should not discredit the advice and insights received from tools, tests, and professional training. However, there is documentation that tells us that faith, belief, and manifestation may also play a significant role in people’s life.
Although I am not a guru in this type of thinking, I am not a naysayer either.
So, I shall see.
In the Meantime
My reality is that I am dying. For this matter, I want to manifest a reality that helps the people that need help the most. As you know, The Question Guy Podcast tells the stories of people who have intentionally made personal transformations in their lives. These stories are powerful and impactful. After listening, you will be inspired to make changes in your own life.
Coach’s Corner is there to tell the stories of your professional efforts. What do you do that impacts your clients’ space? I ask that you join me in these conversations and share your experiences with the world.
The Envision Speakers Series is reaching its fourth episode. I continue to have conversations to change how we engage in the discussion of mental and emotional wellbeing. The next episode is scheduled for September 12, 2023. In that conversation, I will have the opportunity to chat with Mitch Gray and Kevin R. Strauss, M.E. ?????? to discuss just how the conversation around mental health should take place.
The conversations around mental health and personal wellbeing should happen long after I die. Please help me keep The Envision Speakers Series alive! ?

Appalachian Trail Hike-Thru
Originally scheduled for 2025, I am now targeting 2024 as the year to successfully hike through the Appalachian Trail. I am doing this because I do not think I will be alive to see 2025. To accomplish this bucket list event, and to raise money and awareness for mental health and suicide prevention services, I need your support, help, and money. The goal is $1,000,000.
The money will be focused on local community services that provide coaching and other support services to help people find (or redefine) purpose and value for their lives. Additionally, the monies will go to ensure that The Envision Speakers Series will continue its mission – to clarify, change, and create a new conversation on how to be emotionally and psychologically healthy.
It begins with a conversation.
Thank You!
A big thank you to those people who are helping me make my bucket list a reality.
