You may be aware that Google is sunsetting Universal Analytics in favor of Google Analytics 4 on July 23rd, 2023. If you weren't aware, here's your notification!?
If you're already set up with Google Analytics 4 (GA-4), great. Pat yourself on the back and read no further.
If you don't have GA-4, or you are not sure, the clock is ticking. Many of the reports in Google Analytics rely on historical data. To make good business decisions, you'll need at least 3 - 6 months of user?data.
If you haven't changed systems yet, you're running out of time! To avoid losing data this summer, check your Analytics account now.
How Can I Tell if I'm Using the New Google Analytics or the Old One?
Universal Analytics, AKA the "old one", looks drastically different than GA-4, so you'd have noticed the switch if it happened. Want to double-check? Try the three steps below:
1. Log into Google Analytics, and select the "All Accounts" drop-down menu to the right of the Analytics logo. In my example below, the text you'd click says "All Website Data".?

2. View the "property" you're actively using. It will be the middle column in between Accounts and Views.?
3. Look at the ID code under your property name. In the case of my example, the ID code is UA-13915266. That "UA" means it is a Universal Analytics property and it is soon to be outdated. Here's what else you might see in that field:?
GA-4 properties will be named G-XXXXXXXX, or simply just the account number. Click on that property and make sure it's collecting data. If you do not see a GA-4 property, or if there is no data, contact your webmaster to get it set up by the New Year!
