A wake-up call happened for me during the height of the pandemic in 2020. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Many people had their lives turned upside down for one reason or another as Covid raged.

it left me and my family scrambling as my mental health private practice scrambling.

With no ability to earn an income and with savings rapidly depleting, my mind going bonkers wondering what to do, the pressure in my chest tightening, waking up exhausted from restless nights of sleep, it felt like our cozy and comfortable world was falling apart.

Even though we still had food on our table and a roof over our head, we began to take measures to cut back on as much as we can.

Feelings of embarrassment, failing to properly prepare for moments like these even though I’m not sure how you could adequately prepare for what happened.

Thank God we were able to hold it together and pull through with a little assistance of the state because I wasn’t qualified to receive much and I didn’t have a staff to pursue the loans or grants that were made available.

In my time of scrambling, I listed all the things I could do to possibly earn some form of income. I won’t bore you with the list but all I will say is that I didn’t spare any kind of legitimate work that I could do.

Hey, I started out my journey in this country washing dishes and cleaning bathrooms and toilets at a restaurant and there’s nothing wrong with that. You do what you have to do.

But above all of that, I had aha moments.

It hit me that maybe:

• I didn’t really have a business
• What I was doing was unsustainable
• Something had to change in the way I was conducting my practice.

I realized that if nothing changed, I could easily find myself in a similar situation in the future should there be another form of pandemic.

But where should I start?

That was the question.

The very first thing that I thought about was how to find a way to create other streams of income even if it was just one to start with.

This thought came to my mind because I have been on the internet for quite some time and have engaged with a number of people who have used the internet successfully to add other streams of income to their business.

Many of these people were not therapists like myself but I realized what was possible by learning from them. Some of this learning was via paid coaching, course purchased, books read, podcast, YouTube, and other channels.

After praying and consulting with a few friends, I came across an opportunity to join a group of people who wanted to do something like me … create an additional stream of income.

But it wasn’t just another stream of income. It had to fit these 3 criteria.

It had to be:

• a digital product
• available on demand
• automated where it didn’t require more of my time

Was that possible?

Yes, and even more so when a new coach/mentor entered into my life.

As a result of that, I’m on my way to making this a real thing in my business.
