Developing Long Term Collaboration between Australia & Latin America
As a member of the Board of The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR), I wanted to let you know we have announced our 2015–2016 grant recipients and to congratulate the many grant applicants for their ingenuity and creativity.
The list of grants is available on the COALAR website: Australia’s engagement with Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay will be enhanced by this year’s grant program. The projects supported by the COALAR grants are a small sample of the many opportunities for building long-term collaboration and cooperation between individuals and institutions between Australia and Latin America.
The COALAR supported projects include:
- The Victorian TAFE Association's VET Sector Leadership and Capacity Building Program;
- The Australian Council for Private Education and Training project to build transnational models for vocational education and training (VET) in Mexico;
- The Walkley Foundation's Australia and Latin America literary and media exchange;
- Training in sustainable construction in Argentina and Uruguay, conservation of heritage documents in Havana City Council and an interactive theatre production as part of the Australia now Brazil 2016 cultural program.
Amongst regional projects, it's great to see Geelong Writers Inc working to deepen the Geelong and Barwon regional engagement with Latin America.
The grants program for 2016–2017 will open in February 2016. More information about successful grant recipients and the grants program can be found on the COALAR website.
COALAR was established in 2001 by the Australian Federal Government to enhance Australia’s economic, political and social relations with Latin America.
