Last week on, "Ask JT Anything" a viewer asked me what she could do to make her LinkedIn profile stand out so people (especially, recruiters), would contact her.
No Keywords = No Profile Views
The biggest mistake people make on LinkedIn when it comes to standing out is not optimizing their profiles with the right keywords. [To understand what I mean, you can watch this quick video where I explain how it works.]
LinkedIn is a search engine. Just like Google, you need to put specific words in to help narrow your search. For example, a recruiter will type in, "Project Management" and few other relevant keywords to find someone with that skill set. Thus, if you don't put the right quality and quantity of keywords in your LinkedIn profile, you don't come up in people's search results - it's that simple.

7 年I thought I had an all star profile but now I know why I'm not getting any recruiter looks. I'm not optimized! Thanks for sharing your article. Glad I follow you. My profile area is in communications, broadcast media, PR, marketing - somewhat varying but connected disciplines. What key words do you suggest to make me more findable to recruiters on LinkedIn?

7 年Great piece of advice J.T ! If I may I'd like to ask you another one: I am French and live in Brazil, so we speak Portuguese here, but I am currently looking for an opportunity in International relations / cooperation / trade, kinda anywhere in the world. Thus, I'd like my profile to grab the recruiters' attention but I don't know in what language my profile would have more impact. You see, where I live, people do not speak a good English, and I could be interested in a job here in Brazil. But I am sure that recruiters from here are going to do they search in their own language. So what can you advise me on this matter ? Grateful, Benjamin
