Could our franchise opportunity be right for you?
When you have a successful business and want to think about expanding it across the UK, one of the options open to you is to turn it into a franchise. It’s something we decided to do, and are continuing to do, across the UK. That’s why we went along to the National Franchise Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham at the start of October. The exhibition is the UK’s flagship franchise show of the year and it’s a brilliant event for anyone with an interest or involvement in the franchise industry. A huge range of people go along including industry experts, financial, legal and careers advisors, current franchisees and franchising businesses (or businesses that are thinking about it). And, of course, the exhibition is also attended by anyone who thinks they might be interested in a franchise and wants a better understanding of what franchising is all about and the opportunities it could present.
So what is franchising?
It’s basically the granting of a licence by the franchisor (the company) to the franchisee. That then lets the franchisee own and run their own business as part of the franchisor’s business model and brand. The franchisee gets training and plenty of ongoing support from the franchisor. They need to meet particular stipulations, like the franchisor’s quality standards, and they get help and training to achieve this. But the actual franchise business is owned and run by the franchisee. While support is there when needed, the day-to-day running of the business is all up to them.
Jackson Fire and Security’s franchise
Our team were busy answering questions about the Jackson Fire and Security opportunities at the exhibition, providing insights into what life is like as a franchisee and answering specific questions about our own franchise. Jackson Fire and Security is a well-known brand with an excellent reputation that has gone from strength to strength since it started from its North Wales base in 1991. So it was a logical step to create franchising opportunities based on its successful business model, becoming the first fire and security company to do so.
The reality is it’s a large market; legislation alone means that fire and security solutions are constantly in demand. Not only is there a requirement for installation of equipment but all the associated services too: activities like maintaining and servicing systems and equipment and carrying out fire risk assessments means there’s always repeat business. It presents a great commercial opportunity for those prepared to put the work into it.
But while having a substantial market, along with the drive to run your own business, are vital considerations for anyone thinking about taking up a franchise, they’re not the only reasons for taking on ours. For our franchisees, it’s also all about having a real sense of purpose and value. If you’re running a Jackson Fire and Security franchise, you are carrying out a role that’s all about protecting people and property. As well as being a great commercial opportunity, it’s a meaningful business that’s an essential part of keeping people safe. This message really resonated at the exhibition – and we were delighted to have such a high level of interest in our franchising opportunities.
