Spot on Rachel.
We’re seeing multiple things come together that make your prediction even more relevant. First, there’s a need to upskill the abilities of the current workforce to be more prepared with the right skillset to meet the job demands of the future. But mid-career professionals aren’t likely to be able to take time off to go back to a college to do so, nor do they feel they fit in on a traditional college campus. Second, most corporations have funds aside for professional development and tuition reimbursement. Going forward universities will likely be looking to appeal to mid-career professionals who want to the upskill as a new student pool. And under or unemployed individuals will be looking for ways to reskill themselves to be more viable candidates for higher paying jobs. These new potential students will likely be seeking a combination of online learning and convenient learning centers where they can come together to work in teams and share collective experiences. The conversion of existing vacant office space into extended learning centers provides that convenience and enables mid-career workers to get the additional training they need. We are entering an era of life-long learning where continuous improvement will not only be sought, it will be necessary.
