A Veterans Day message from our CEO ?
It’s a bit crazy how this happened. After graduate school, I was ready to follow my parent’s path and be a professor. I interviewed and was fortunate to get a few professor offers and one job offer from the US Navy. After 8 years of studying, and for reasons I didn’t understand, I accepted the Navy offer. In one moment, I changed career plans and agreed to move to DC and to work in the Pentagon. After 3 decades of working for the US Navy, serving for over 4 years at sea and 1 year in a war zone, I have to say that loved every day because I woke up knowing that if I did my job well, I might create a better Navy… and might be contributing to a team dedicated to creating a more secure world.
Like most people with tons of work experience, I understand now why it was such an easy choice. I was choosing to work with servicemembers who were so dedicated to serving others they were willing to sacrifice all that they had for others. Veterans are far more than many people think. Many don’t realize that their commitment to serving others sets a high standard for the rest of us. Because of that, I am always moved on Veteran’s Day to contact people who have served in the military to remind them that I am still in awe of their service. To all the veterans who read this, THANK YOU, for all that you have done.
