Could the Ember Cube be the Catalyst to Eliminate Single Use Shipping Materials in the Healthcare Industry?

The proverbial expression “necessity is the mother of invention” came into play when Ember created its revolutionary self-refrigerated, cloud-based shipping box The Ember Cube. When the Mayo Clinic was having difficulty delivering temperature sensitive medicines to remote villages in Haiti, Ember rose to the challenge and built its first miniature refrigeration device. Since then, Ember has teamed up with Cardinal health and the Ember Cube is poised to revolutionize the way medications are delivered across the globe. The outer shell is made from expanded polypropylene foam making it lightweight and able to withstand the rigors of shipping without getting damaged or marred. The Ember Cube can be remotely monitored for location as well as temperature and humidity and once it reaches its destination, a simple push of the "return to sender" button generates a return shipping address and notifies the carrier for pick up. Upon return the cubes are stored until the next use and can be reused indefinitely thus reducing the need for single use shipping materials. Cardinal plans to launch a customer pilot of the Ember Cube sometime in 2022, we'll be watching.
