Howdy!
Woah there! That feels like an aggressive title. For those of you hoping for a fiery rant– sorry to disappoint. But here is the scoop: this one is for my haters!
So, picture this: I was recently in the car when my boyfriend answered a call from his dad. Yep, I said it-I have a boyfriend (Gasp! I know!). Fun fact: he is my main inspiration for this journey! Last year he went from couch potato to MARATHON. Yep – you heard that right. Full-on marathon in Raleigh on a random Tuesday afternoon. This whole journey is just my attempt to be half as cool as him!
Any who back to the phone call. His father, Brian (Hey! I know you’re reading this!), and I have always been jokesters. But I was unprepared to hear what he was about to say on the phone.
He told me he felt as though there was no way I could do this couch to Tar Heel 10.
So yes. This is a dramatic blog post that will double as a message to my haters out there.
I would like everybody reading this to know that I will be running this Tar Heel 10. Even if I must speed walk the whole thing.
Now let’s chat about this enneagram type 3 wing 2. I am not the type to be all in on a personality test, but oh boy this one hit home! Apparently, us 3 wing 2 folks are pretty goal-oriented (Boy do I love a good goal)! Ever since the Tar Heel 10 was scratched into my bucket list on my notes app on my phone it might as well be carved in stone.
So back to the haters out there. This is my formal statement that I will be running this race, and if you don’t believe me, I would love to put a wager on it (Except let’s be real - I don’t believe in betting with real money so maybe not a real wager).
The running journey may be starting rough, but I promise I am working on it (3 wing 2s are also optimistic can you tell?). In my off-time, I have perfected my walking speed to class. The other day I set a PR of 18 minutes! Who knew running late for exams and stress walking would feel so exhilarating?
Although it’s not running, it did feel close. At this point, I feel like I can do anything.
Hopefully, I will sub out walking to class (Thank goodness for Wellness days) and try a run tomorrow? Stay tuned!
