Are Costco’s Kirkland Wedges Worth It for Golfers?

Costco might not be the first name you think of when it comes to golf equipment, but their Kirkland wedges are making waves. Are they the real deal? I decided to find out by putting them head-to-head with my premium Titleist Vokey wedges. Here’s how the budget-friendly set stacked up against the pros.

The Test

I tested three Kirkland wedges—a 60°, 56°, and 52°—on a Full Swing Simulator at Back Nine Golf. Each wedge was evaluated across different yardages:

• 60° (76 yards): Narrow targets with water hazards made for a challenging test, but I managed three shots inside 8 feet.
• 56° (86 yards): High spin rates averaging 7,800 RPM kept every shot on the green, delivering consistent performance.
• 52° (123 yards): While slightly shorter than my Vokey, the gap wedge had an impressive 10,185 RPM spin rate, with most shots landing close together on the green.

Then, I swapped in my Vokey wedges and ran the same tests. The results? As expected, the Vokeys outperformed in consistency and control, but the difference wasn’t as vast as you might think.

Is It Worth It?

For a fraction of the cost—$169 for a set of three wedges compared to $189 for just one Vokey—the Kirkland wedges are impressive. While serious golfers might stick with premium clubs for their precision and feel, the Kirklands are a fantastic option for recreational players or those just starting out.
