Each department in your plant should ideally have their own PMP separate from the other departments and collectively as a manufacturing plant. The typical PMP's would normally fall under the following:

Another costly scenario that is normally found somewhere is the Fixed Time Maintenance tasks, such as planed overhauls and replacements, again more than likely on the what if basis with an added feature ' we have always done this' So what if you have FTM in place on a rolling 12 month basis and really it should be a 24 month basis. we understand that that theses maintenance tasks are driven by time, but what if you actually questioned the true need of the task.
Are your decisions made on the assumption of visual inspection or what is actually known?
This is a good opportunity to determine life expectancy of components that are being changed repeatedly or overhauled, and if there are safe methods available to do all year round condition monitoring when the plant is running or not. This method condition based monitoring allows you to shrink the 'what if' way of thinking and act on actual fact. The cost of FTM will also be reduced considerably.
