Develops new products using arrowroot, black ginger, and mangosteen, with patent applications
Cosmeca Korea, a cosmetics OGM specialist company, announced on July 9th that while K-beauty is in the spotlight in the Thai market thanks to the K-culture boom, it is accelerating the development of high-functional skin care products using Thai natural raw materials to capture more share in earnest.
Cosmecca Korea has joint research carrying out biohealth development projects in North Chungcheong Province with Seowon University. On June 28, it signed an MOU for mutual cooperation with SNPS (Specialty Natural Public Company Limited), a Thai natural raw material company, in order to localize basic materials and build local infrastructure with the goal of nurturing beauty professionals and strengthening competitiveness.
Cosmecca Korea selected five final varieties, including Thai kudzu, black ginger, mangosteen, licorice, and longan, as main candidates for further research. In fact, Thai arrowroot has a high content of ingredients such as puerarin, genistein, and daidzein, which helps whiten the skin and provide nutrition.
Based on these plants, the plan is to develop two types of new highly functional skin care products going through product stability and skin safety evaluation, microbial preservative power evaluation, and skin irritation test. It will then apply for patents.
Cosmecca Korea plans to introduce new, highly functional skin care products developed at the '2024 Osong Cosmetic Beauty Industry Expo' and 'In-Cosmetic Asia Bangkok' exhibitions scheduled for this fall.

The project focuses on enhancing cosmetics R&D expertise through a one-stop development process for biohealth-related universities and companies, and establishing a commercialization process by establishing an exchange network between companies.
Director Cho Hang-eui of Cosmecca Korea said, “We will strive to build K-beauty infrastructure through such cooperation and the development of innovative technologies,” adding, “We plan to strengthen our competitiveness in the global market by conducting applied dermatological research using basic and general-purpose materials.”
