Coschool update: Q2 2023

Dear Coschool friends, supporters, and investors. Here's a brief look back at April-May-June 2023 in 10 bullets or less!??

Asks

• 10 year celebrations.?Coschool will officially?be 10 years old in September 2014. Wow! I want to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.?Do you have any ideas? Have you seen other organisations celebrate these milestones in a remarkable way?
• ?Training for early childhood Educators in LatAm.?Can you connect us to any leaders in this area in your network to invite them to take part in our?cohort?that starts August 16th??

The good

• ?We hit our revenue target!?We hit our revenue target for the first semester ($600K approx). Bearing in mind our struggles last year, this is a?great?turnaround. We're also hitting our targets in terms of cost management. Kudos to the whole team.?
• ?Successful launch of course with Influencer (same as above).?We partnered with?Manuela?to create an awesome?course?for early childhood educators and had over 100 B2C sales at?launch.?
• ?Parents MVP.?Ed Halliday, Coschool veteran, spent a month with us investigating the needs of parents and building an MVP -?Comunipadres. We learned a lot (particularly through a survey of 150 parents). It's currently on standby awaiting next steps. You can find out more?here.??
• Participation in events in Argentina, Medellín.?We?participated in Varkey Foundation's?Character Education Congress?in Buenos Aires (as part of a?visit?to Argentina), and the?WISE?forum in Medellín.??

The bad & the ugly

• ?Selling to schools.?We aimed to ramp up B2B sales to schools with Edumocion "cohorts" but have not had much traction, with more sales to other segments. We continue to iterate.?
• Dollar crashes against the peso.?Having?received significant funding in USD, which grew 20% vs COP last year, it's now decreased by 20% in 6 months. Unstable currency = headaches.?

Short story

PRIMED - school leaders that look after 18,000 students in Bogotá begin their journey.

We spent three days with 60 leaders from 10 public schools in Bogotá, who began a two-year experience with?PRIMED?- the project we have been developing in partnership with?Dr Marvin Berkowitz. All teachers at the schools will have access to Edumocion as part of the project. It was fantastic to spend time in person with such a diverse group, who oversee the education and wellbeing of 18,000 students. One school alone has 4000 students! We were able to involve a group of 15 PRIMED coaches, including participants from the first pilot with private schools. What struck me about this institute was the way the participants seemed to grasp that changing school culture?has?to begin with the leaders modelling that change. It was refreshing and inspiring to hear from head teachers like Carlos (19 years at his school) say: "I have to be a model for the teachers and students in my school". Something personal

?The hardest goodbye so far.

I was in the UK twice in Q2 - for the stag weekend and wedding of one of my best friends, Jack. The second visit was a chance for us to introduce Olivia to family and friends there for the first time, and it was an amazing?trip. Olivia meeting her older cousins Benji and Poppy was probably the highlight :) However, the goodbyes hurt a little more when you have a little one. I never imagined bringing up my daughter so far away from my own parents and family in the UK. In some ways it gets easier being an expat over time, but in others it gets a little harder.
